Book review: The 5 Second Rule by Mel Robbins

Mel Robbins is one of my favorite women. I have been following her on Instagram for a long time, and she is a huge inspiration to me.

As she has just brought out her new book, The High 5 Habit, which I am reading as we speak, I wanted to recommend an older book of hers first.
The 5 Second Rule.

Mel Robbins, The 5 Second Rule

In The 5 Second Rule, Mel Robbins tells the story of how she picked herself up and started creating her dream life, by the simple "trick" of counting backward from 5 to 1.
Imagine standing on the 3-meter block in your swimming pool hesitating to jump. Now count backward from 5 to 1 and jump. Something happens in your brain when you count backward, that gives you the confidence to do it.
Mel Robbins discovered this by trying it on herself, and that it workes with pretty much everything in your life. In this book, she describes in her beautiful authentic way, how it can help you too.
If you feel stuck in any area of your life, if perfectionism haunts you or you compare yourself to others a lot, if you are afraid of the difficult conversation or stepping into your true self, I highly recommend this book.
It has helped me tremendously in my life.
So if by any chance you are reading this Mel, thank you for showing all of us how to be unapologetically ourselves.
