Let's have a look at your energy level before we start.
If you think about your energy level as the content of a fridge, how full is your fridge? Please make a note.
And now if you think of the energy level of your business, how full is that fridge? Please make a note.
For me, these 2 questions pretty much always had the same answer. If I don't feel energized and have a full fridge personally, so does my business. And this is where the importance of self-care comes in. Because self-care fills your fridge with a variety of lovely and healthy ingredients.
Self-care is not a "treat" that you sometimes deserve, like binge-watching something on Netflix, a glass of wine, or ice cream.
Nor is it just going to the hairdresser or doing your nails.
Self-care is protecting your own well-being and happiness and implies that you put yourself first.
This seems counterintuitive at first, especially as a woman, where we got taught to be the good girl, not to be difficult, not to be too much and a "good" mum to everyone. But think about it this way. If you go down, no one wins. So it is your responsibility, and in everyone else's interest, that you put yourself first and look after yourself the best you can.
And if you look at it this way, it is absolutely not selfish.
Self-care is the foundation for the building of your life and business. You want to make sure that it is solid, otherwise, all the work that comes after is for nothing, as it is going to fall apart. You risk having a burnout or worse, which you probably already experienced being a multipassionate. So please make yourself a priority. Find the things that help you to tune into yourself and reconnect with who you are and make them non-negotiable.
